Building Fire For Colder Days
Like all good stories
Around the fire,
We pause for effect...
We pause …
To sip the goodness of life
In this very moment:
To drink in the stars,
The warmth and dancing light.
For when the path is hard,
When the rains come,
When our hands lie silent on the coverlet-
Illness or grief or ...
While our bodies sway to sorrow,
Our thoughts will yet cling
To this balm, this cure, this quiet joy-
Our eyes made healthful once more:
Faces reflecting the rest we’ve found
In our pine-scented, starry bliss.
This campfire communion: our spirit oasis.
