Advent Vigil: A Lament

We speak a lament for all that is lost.

We sing sadly for all that will not come to be.

We cry; our hearts cannot fathom it all.

We bear a boulder of unrelenting grief.

We speak our lament for souls feeling crushed,

Spend our days pleading and praying for light,

Honor the memory of shared dreams departed,

Ask for miracles each merciful hour.

The night with its shadows soon will pass.

For now we hold vigil; awake until dawn.

Love, unchanging love, through the hours

Will be our anchor while injustice prevails.

Weep

Wait

Watch

Pray

We speak a lament for all that is lost,

Plead for miracles each merciful hour.

The night with its shadows soon will pass.

In love, we watch. In hope, we pray:

How Long, O Lord?

How Long, O Lord?

How Long, O Lord?

How Long?!
